Welcome to Horbury Common Lands Trust
Horbury Common Lands Trust was founded in 1653 to administer rents generated from the letting of the town's common land. The rents had to be used to benefit the Minister of the church and the poor of the town. The remaining monies were to be used as thought fit, such as repairing the water banks, bridges and highways within the town.
In more recent times, Horbury Common Lands Trust has been underwriting a myriad of organisations within Horbury. These include contributions to local churches, local schools for books and prizes, youth and adult groups, repairs to associations' buildings and to individuals who require contributions to fund extraordinary achievements.
