Horbury Pageant Players are a local drama group that have been a staple of the community since 1947. Encouraging children to become involved in drama is key but there is a real mixture of ages in this amateur group who have entertained the residents of Horbury for over 70 years. This year, due to mounting venue costs used for both rehearsal and staging their performances, Horbury Common Lands Trust have awarded them a grant of £3000.

You can see Horbury Pageant Players’ performance of ‘Aladdin’ at Horbury Academy from the 20th-23rd February 2019.

Local drama is something that we should continue to support. I mean, all of drama is worth fighting for, but local drama is like the independent scene. In my opinion, local drama is like the breeding grounds for future actors, writers, and directors. I hope that everyone here supports the local drama clubs in their town. It can really help build up their confidence, as well, as make them into better actors in the future. Congratulations on your fine drama club!
